SC to ensure its verdicts are enforced, says CJP
LAHORE:
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has emphasised that implementation on the verdicts of the Supreme Court would be ensured for dispensation of quick justice.
Talking to office-bearers of the Lahore High Court on Saturday, he said that the judiciary has been playing a key role for dispensation of justice in the society. He added that the bar and the bench were indispensable to ensure provision of justice in society. The CJ also pointed out that without the cooperation and understanding of the bar and the bench provision of justice to the citizens could not be ensured.
On this occasion, the lawyers urged the CJ to take action against those responsible for torturing their peers during their movement in Lahore and Gujrat. The CJ also said the judiciary is making all-out efforts to provide speedy justice to the people and had succeeded in this regard to some extent. “The SC is playing its role in the dispensation of justice,” he said.
The CJ met with a delegation of the LHCBA in the SC building on Saturday. The bar association’s president, Mian Abdul Qudoos quoted the CJ as saying that the bar and bench are two wheels of a chariot and that quick dispensation of justice will not be possible without the cooperation of all the bar associations.
Vice-President LHCBA Shah Abbas, and Secretary LHCBA Mian Babar Murtaza and other members of the association extended their full support to the CJ. Qudoos added that the LHBCA expressed its reservations to the CJ regarding the early disposal of cases in the subordinate courts. He said that they also demanded that the CJ should ensure that court decisions against revenue and police departments are implemented.
