KARACHI: A spokesperson for the paramilitary Sindh Rangers reiterated that the Karachi operation is not against any specific individual or party. Instead, the operation is aimed at establishing durable peace in the city through the arrest of criminals and terrorists.

Hundreds of criminals and terrorists have either been jailed or killed in the operation since September 5, 2013, the spokesperson said.

He added that the statement of any party leader about Karachi operation is contrary to the facts.

Earlier, Rangers were criticised by political parties, particularly Muttahida Qaumi Movement, for conducting a one-sided operation.

MQM’s top leader Izharul Hasan was arrested on Friday from his residence in Karachi’s Bufferzone area but was released hours later under Section 497-2B of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPc).
