WMO: Rasul elected new regional head

Ghulam Rasul was elected as the new vice-president of Asia-Pacific region of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) on Friday, said a press release.
Rasul is currently serving as the director-general of the Pakistan Metrological Society.
He had already been working as the WMO Coordinator for the Global Framework for Climate Services.
In his new capacity, he would reinforce the organisation’s efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, in addition to addressing climate-related issues of the region.
Furthermore, Rasul has been serving as the permanent representative of Pakistan with the WMO along with being the co-chair of a number of regional climate-research initiatives.
