A day after the India’s ruling party, the Bharatiya Janata Party floated the idea of celebrating an “eco-friendly” ‘Bakra Eid’, the Muslim Wing of Indian ultra-rightist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) celebrated Eidul Azha on Tuesday by cutting a cake with an inscription “No Bakra Goat 2016”.

The party said the cake-cutting ceremony was held to spread a message of brotherhood among Indians.

“We are giving up the traditional norm to spread a message of brotherhood. Muslim Rashtriya Munch (MRM) has given this cake a form of goat,” an RSS member was quoted as saying.

“We have taken this step. Let’s see what will happen. It can be an inspiration for others."

According to Indian Express, MRM convener Raees Khan said the objective behind cutting a cake instead of sacrificing a goat was to promote “non-violence”. Sacrifice of goats during ‘Bakra Eid’ causes “pollution” and “promotes violence,” he added.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Muslims on Eidul Azha and wished for peace and harmony in society.

"Id-ul-Zuha greetings. May this festival enhance the spirit of peace & togetherness in our society," he tweeted.
