Hides collection to be strictly regulated
Citizens should wisely choose the organisation they donate hides to
LAHORE:
The city district government has constituted monitoring teams to regulate the collection of hides of sacrificial animals by various organisations on Eidul Azha. A CDGL spokesperson said on Monday that the government had constituted nine committees at the town level.
The committees would monitor hide collection drives in their areas and would take strict action against organisations found to be collecting donations and hides without obtaining permission from the relevant authority first. He said the authorised organisations will be allowed to collect hides at designated collection points only. DCO Capt (r) Muhammad Usman recently issued a Section 144 notification barring the collection of hides by banned outfits.
The city district government has given permission to 75 organisations to collect hides in the city. These organisations have been told to collect hides in designated areas only. The city district government has also imposed a ban on the use of loud speakers to call for donations for hides.
The government has also displayed banners across the city with a message that not all organisations seeking donations are well-wishers of the country. Citizens should wisely choose the organisation they donate hides to.
