The Pakistan Army befittingly responded to ‘unprovoked’ Indian shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) which started late Monday night, ISPR said.

Indian security forces resorted to unprovoked firing on the Pakistani side of the border in Neza Pir sector of LoC,. However, Pakistani troops befittingly responded to the Indian shelling which finally stopped on early Monday morning, read a statement issued by the military’s media wing. The ISPR, however, did not mention any loss of life or property as a result of the shelling.

The Indian shelling along LoC comes at a time when the nation is celebrating Defence Day with the sole pledge to continue to defend the geographical and ideological boundaries as well as territorial integrity of the motherland.

Indian troops carry out ‘unprovoked’ firing along LoC

On Friday, Indian troops had opened fire in Thob and Bhimber sectors in Azad Kashmir along the LoC. The two countries are already engaged in a tense standoff due to the unrest in held Kashmir, resulting in the death of at least 70 protesters by Indian forces.

The protest erupted after security personnel shot dead a populist separatist commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani on July 8, inviting criticism on the presence of troops in the valley. On August 14, Indian border guards resorted to ‘unprovoked firing’ at Nezapir Sector near Rawlakot in LoC, targeting military posts and civilian population as Pakistan celebrated its 70th foundation day.

Pakistan has offered India talks on Kashmir unrest, whereas India holds the opinion that these should comprise of the ‘infiltration’ into the valley from the neighbouring country.
