"The capacity to carry out strict monitoring and follow-up of transplant patients, donor and recipient, at SIUT is a commendable medical practice that makes the hospital very distinctive," said Chapman, the head of medicine at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, while speaking at the inauguration of the third postgraduate course on renal transplantation. He also stressed on the need to adopt the same practice of extending such comprehensive medical coverage to transplant patients at other institutions as well.
Four other medical professionals, a vascular surgeon, a clinical professor, a transplant nephrologist and Westmead Hospital head of nursing had accompanied Chapman. They are currently on a four-day visit that is a part of the ongoing post-graduate course. During the course, the medical professionals at SIUT and members of the visiting Australian team will jointly carry out exercises, protocols and discussion in the field of nephrology and transplantation.
