Death: One killed in police ‘encounter’  

Police said they had taken the body to a hospital for post-mortem examination

BAHAWALPUR: Police claimed to have killed a robbery suspect on Tuesday night while four of the deceased’s accomplices had managed to flee. Police said five men had snatched a motorcycle from a person in an Ahmadpur Lama police precinct. The victim called up the police as soon as they had left. The cops set up a picket in the area and a mobile team chased the robbers. Police said that the robbers had shot at them and they had returned the fire. A shootout went on for some time. Four of the men had managed to flee but one of them had died in the crossfire. Police seized a Kalashnikov rifle from the deceased. He was identified as Hussain. Police said they had taken the body to a hospital for post-mortem examination and were looking for the rest of his accomplices.
