New classrooms to be built in DG Khan

The assistant commissioner said a committee had been formed to the oversee work

DERA GHAZI KHAN: “As many as 1,401 new classrooms will be constructed across Dera Ghazi Khan. The provincial government has allocated Rs2 billion for this purpose,” Assistant Commissioner Asghar Majeed said on Saturday.

He was addressing a meeting. The commissioner said the classrooms would be constructed along modern lines. “High quality material would be used for the construction,” he said.

The assistant commissioner said a committee had been formed to the oversee work. He said a superintendent engineer of the Buildings Department would chair the committee. He said the new classrooms would be equipped with modern facilities. He said the classrooms would be built under a programme launched by the chief minister for construction of 150,000 classrooms across the province.

“New classrooms are being provided in relation to attendance and enrolment,” he said. The assistant commissioner said a survey of schools had found that construction of new classrooms in 106 schools was not feasible. DCO Nadeemur Rehman directed the EDO education to construct new rooms in alternative schools. He also sought a report in this regard by next week.
