MQM MPA’s murder Case referred to subordinate court brief
The police also supplied a list of 17 witnesses, one of which had picked Khan as an assailant
KARACHI:
The anti-terrorism courts’ (ATC) administrative judge referred on Saturday Muttahida Qaumi Movement provincial lawmaker Manzar Imam’s murder case to a subordinate court for trial. MPA Imam, along with three police guards, was gunned down in a drive-by shooting in Orangi Town in January, 2013. The development came after police submitted a charge sheet against an arrested suspect, Ashiq Khan, while nominating five suspects, Saqib, Pervez, Shafqat alias Marshal and two others, as absconders. The police also supplied a list of 17 witnesses, one of which had picked Khan as an assailant during an identification parade before a judicial magistrate. The suspect was arrested by the Rangers last September during a raid in Taiser Town. He was handed over to the police for interrogation three months later. The ATC-II will now hear the case and conduct the trial.
