Motive unknown: Two women gunned down

PESHAWAR: At least two women were gunned down in Shero Jahangi within the jurisdiction of Khazana police station in the city on Friday.

A police official told The Express Tribune the assailant has been identified as Mursaleen. “Mursaleen opened fire on his mother and sister at his residence in Shero Jahangi,” he said.

According to the police official, both women died at the spot. However, the assailant managed to escape after committing the crime. The official added the motive behind the killing has yet to be ascertained. The police have registered an FIR and started investigation of the case.

A woman reportedly committed suicide by consuming poisonous pills following a domestic dispute in Barikot, Swat on Friday. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as the wife of Muhammad Raheem. Her condition deteriorated after she consumed the pills.
