Masood Kausar takes oath as Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Barrister Masood Kausar has taken oath as the new Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti, provincial ministers, lawyers and PPP and ANP leaders also attended the ceremony.


Talking to the media after being appointed, Governor Kausar said that peace in the tribal areas is his first priority.

Kausar has been elected twice to the K-P Assembly. He served as the speaker K-P Assembly from 1988 to 1990 and as the deputy leader of the opposition from 1990 to 1993.  In 1994, he was elected as senator for a period of six years.

Born in southern district of Kohat on May 2, 1938, Kausar completed his BA from Islamia College Peshawar, and received his LLB degree from Peshawar University in 1960. He went to England in 1968 for his Bar at the Lincoln’s Inn.

He was elected president of the Peshawar High Court Bar Association in 1984 and has been an honorary visiting Professor of law at the University Law College, Peshawar.
