The Bollywood diva says society views women as weak individuals

Sonam Kapoor, who has been trolled several times on social media for being outspoken, has this time hit out at India's patriarchal society.

“Ours is a patriarchal society. For actresses, sportswomen and even for women in media we have a lots of odd stacked against us where we are judged from the way we look to the way we speak to whether we are pregnant or not," The Indian Express quoted her as saying.

Expressing disappointment, Sonam said society views women as weak individuals.

"We are seen as not being capable or strong. Women are looked down upon as they can’t do a lot of things and judged on it. It is very unfair.”

However, the Neerja actor is optimistic.

“I am hoping things will be better. I am an optimistic person. If we help women, our society gets better. They are the foundation to a better India. Olympics was a great example. They would have done better had they got more support,” she said.

The actor believes she is blessed and tries to give back the love to people. "I have been blessed with a lot and I try to give back to my city in whatever way possible," she added.
