Blacklisted man arrested from Islamabad airport

ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested on Saturday a blacklisted person from Benazir Bhutto International Airport as he was attempting to fly abroad.

Sajid Mehmood, son of Muhammad Fazil, is a resident of Attock and was travelling to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on work visa via flight number NL221.

According to the FIA, during immigration process his Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) was recognised as ‘blacklisted’ with description of ‘arrested’. He was therefore immediately offloaded and sent to Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC), Islamabad for taking further legal action against him.


Blacklisted US ‘spy’ arrested in Islamabad

Earlier in the day, a blacklisted American national was deported from Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport amid tight security.

Despite being blacklisted by Pakistani authorities in 2011, Mathew Barret, an American national succeeded in getting a visa for Pakistan. However, he was arrested by FIA officials upon his arrival in Rawalpindi on August 6.

According to reports, the US national was released from Adiala jail on Friday for deportation.
