Judges have been urged to use modern technology including Skype to record complaints and statements for expeditious dispensation of justice.

“We have to re-orient the organisational, working and service delivery culture of our judiciary in the modern changing world,” said the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge, Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, on Saturday.

He was speaking during a certificate-awarding ceremony at the conclusion of a one-week training course, held at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA), for additional district and sessions judges from across the country.

“Our judges must use modern tools and techniques such as Skype for recording complainant’s statement... for expeditious dispensation of justice. Our judges need to be innovative in their judgment,” Aurangzeb said.

The judges need to be vigilant to discourage the abuse of public interest litigation.

“Judges are under an obligation to point out deficiencies in existing and emerging laws and refer the same to relevant ministries so that the flaws could be removed,” said Justice Aurangzeb.
