Attempted murder case registered against Malik Talib, accomplice

ATTOCK: A local leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was arrested in an injured condition after an exchange of fire with the police, along with his accomplice.

During an operation against suspected drug smugglers, a police team came under fire in the Saddar police limits.

The police headed by Attock DPO Zahid Nawaz Marwat returned fire and arrested PML-N Attock Tehsil Vice-President Malik Talib Hussain, who had sustained a bullet wound in one of his legs. One suspected drug peddler was also arrested.

According to the police, Hussain leads a gang of drug smugglers.

The police also recovered a AK-47, four pistols, ammunition, narcotics, and liquor from a hideout.

Hussain is also the chairperson of Zakat and Ushr Committee of his village Boliyan Wal and in the last local government elections he contested for the slot UC chairperson, but he lost.

At least 11 FIRs are registered against Hussain for his alleged involvement in the sale of narcotics and possession of weapons.

A case was registered against the arrested persons for attempted murder and under various sections of the anti-terrorism act.

Hussain was shifted to the Attock District Headquarters Hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable.
