Independence Day preparations: Measures in place to prevent wheeling, rash driving
Islamabad Traffic Police devises plan to control traffic flow
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has devised an elaborate plan to manage the increased flow of traffic for Independence Day celebrations.
The plan provides a framework for various routes in Islamabad which would remain closed from 6am to 11am on Independence Day.
Moreover, the entrance of heavy vehicles in the capital would also be restricted.
On the directives of IGP Islamabad Tariq Masood Yasin, special squads of ITP had been constituted to prevent wheeling and rash driving on roads a well as to protect the lives and property of citizens.
As many as 441 traffic police personnel would perform their duties on Sunday.
The traffic diversion plan outlines that Kashmir Highway from Aabpara Chowk to Korianwala Chowk would remain closed for all kinds of traffic.
Furthermore, traffic coming from Lahore and Peshawar intended for Murree, would move from Zero Point to Faizabad and subsequently move for Murree through Murree Road.
Similarly, Suharwardy Road beginning from Aabpara to Serena Hotel would also be closed and motorists may use Shaheed-e -Milat Road as a substitute.
Traffic on Municipal Road from F-6 to G-6 and on Constitution Avenue from Secretariat Chowk to Convention Centre along with the road from Bari Imam to Radio Pakistan would be closed for traffic and alternatively Third Avenue could be used by motorists.
Correspondingly, traffic from Kashmir Chowk to Serena Hotel would be closed, while traffic going towards Murree could use the one-way road from the Club Road U-turn to Korianwala Chowk.
