KARACHI: Like every year, revellers of the metropolis have been warned to avoid motorcycle stunts, bathing in the sea and dislodging motorcycle silencers. However, it remains to be seen whether Sindh IG AD Khawaja's warning is heeded this weekend. The province's top cop made these remarks while reviewing a security plan for Independence Day made at the Central Police Office on Friday. From August 13 to 15, people of Karachi have been barred from bathing in the sea or 'one-wheeling' on the city's roads and running motorcycles without silencers. The ban, imposed under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, has been put in place to curb untoward incidents on public holidays. Meanwhile, over 3,000 policemen, besides 200 commandoes of the Special Security Unit and about 1,000 personnel from various police training centres will be posted on security duties while intelligence personnel in plainclothes would also be deployed.
