“The PCB is considering hiring the services of former players to train young players in cricket academies across the country,” quoted the news agency.
The board is likely to approach veterans like Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq and Mohammad Yousuf in the initial phase of the programme.

“The expertise of former players will be utilised in phases,” revealed the official. “In the first phase, the board will try to benefit from the experience of Wasim, Saqlain, and Yousuf, alongside Aqib Javed, Rashid Latif, and Mohammad Akram.”
He added that Director Academies Mudassar Nazar in a recent meeting with the board’s top officials had proposed to avail services of former players, some of whom are settled abroad. “If these former greats agree to train youngsters, it’ll give a great boost to the game of cricket in Pakistan,” he said, adding that Nazar had completed his strategy for grooming players.

It is understood that the board, while agreeing with Mudassar, had given him the go-ahead to contact the former players.
