Police claim headway in arresting man involved in serial stabbings

The accused, a seminary dropout, committed the crime due to a mental disorder, officials say

A man involved in a series of knife attacks on women in Rawalpindi will be caught within 48 hours, police said on Thursday.

Police said the alleged killer was a dropout of a religious seminary, and committed the crime due to a suspected mental disorder.

Earlier on Wednesday, unidentified motorcyclists attacked a girl with a knife in Morgah police station jurisdiction as she was leaving her house with her father.

The girl was rushed to a hospital where her condition was stated to be stable.

Stabbing spree: Police arrest four suspects

On August 9, police took four suspects into custody in connection with the knife attacks in Morgah area.

The suspects, who were rounded up on the basis of information provided by locals and the victims’ families, were being interrogated for the alleged crime, police had said.

In the recent such knife attack on August 7, unidentified men killed a female nurse and wounded another. The police had been receiving complaints about a string of knife attacks on women in the area during the last five months.
