High-Speed Chase: Four customs officials die on road

RAWALPINDI: A high-speed car chase left four Customs Intelligence officials dead and one injured on Wednesday after the vehicle they were travelling in turned turtle at Jalo North on the Islamabad – Peshawar motorway. The Taxila police said an official vehicle (IDO-1976) with five Custom Intelligence officials inside was on the motorway when it turned turtle and fell in depression along the road. Muhammad Ijaz, Shakeel Ahmed, Jamil Ahmed and Amir Hanif were killed, while a fifth official, Shahid Latif, sustained injuries. The police said that the incident took place when the driver lost control of the steering at high speed and the vehicle overturned. The dead and injured were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. Pakistan Customs Sources said the squad was chasing smugglers after being given some information by SIO Javed Akhtar Jehangiri and IO Gul Nawaz. A report was lodged by the Taxila police.
