PESHAWAR: Romania, a southeastern member of European Union, has become the sixth country to establish its honorary consulate in Peshawar.

“Promoting relations is my determination,” Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan Emilian Ion said while addressing a ceremony held at Pearl Continental Hotel in Peshawar on Wednesday to celebrate the inauguration of the consulate.

He spoke about establishing consulates in three major cities of Pakistan — Karachi, Lahore and Faisalabad — during his seven-and-a-half-year stay in the country. He said the purpose of the consulate in Peshawar is to further strengthen relations between the two countries.

While speaking about his stay in the country, the ambassador shared with the participants his keen interest in Pakistani music. “I had arranged several Pashto music shows at my house in Islamabad,” he said.
