Commissioner's orders: ‘Plant 10,000 saplings in each district’

KARACHI: Commissioner Ejaz Ahmed Khan has directed all District Municipal Corporations to plant 10,000 saplings in each district due to the city's worsening environment situation.  He gave these directions while presiding over a meeting at the commissioner's office on Sunday. A grant of Rs2.5 billion released by the chief minister for the development of the city was also reviewed at the meeting. The meeting was also attended by deputy commissioners of all the districts as well as senior officials of the Karachi Municipal Corporation. According to a press release issued by the commissioner office, Khan directed all the officers to expedite the ongoing development work in the city and ensure completion of all the projects. The commissioner was also briefed about the ongoing work on 13 main thoroughfares of the city, which includes repair of roads, footpaths and streetlights.
