Musharraf owns no property in Lahore DHA: police
Report submitted over directive for confiscation of former general’s property
LAHORE:
Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf owns no property in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Lahore, said a report submitted to District and Sessions Judge Nazir Ahmad Gajana by the Defence-A police on Saturday.
Sub Inspector Muhammad Azam appeared in the court and handed the report to the judge.
The report quoted DHA’s transfer and record director Colonel (r) Naeem Masood Malik and said that the former general owned no property in the Lahore DHA, including its Phase III.
Special court orders seizure of Musharraf’s assets
At a previous hearing, the judge had asked SI Azam to find out if there was any property owned by the former general in the DHA.
The directive had been issued in view of a special court’s order regarding confiscation of Musharraf’s moveable and immoveable assets. The formal procedure for attachment of the property was to commence following the SI’s report.
Earlier, the special court had issued several summons to Musharraf to appear in the court in a high treason case but he failed to do so.
Musharraf’s counsel had told the court that his client was undergoing medical treatment abroad and would return to the country immediately thereafter to attend court hearings.
Police to submit report on Musharraf’s property on July 30
On July 19, the three-member special court had ordered authorities concerned to freeze Musharraf’s bank accounts and confiscate his moveable and immoveable property. A notification in this regard was issued by Muhammad Azam, the registrar of the special court.
It had been believed that besides his three properties in Karachi and one in Islamabad the former general also owned a property in Lahore.
Musharraf had left the country on March 18 this year after the Supreme Court of Pakistan upheld the Sindh High Court’s decision to remove his name from the exit control list (ECL).
