MULTAN:
Two sisters were shot dead by their brother in Vehari on Saturday, two days before their wedding.
Mubashar Ahmed, the police officer investigating the case, told newsmen that 22-year-old Gulzar Bibi and 18-year-old Kausar Bibi, daughters of Atta Muhammad Bhatti, had moved to Karachi in search of work. H said they had met two men from Faisalabad and decided to marry them without consulting their family. He said Nasir Hussain, their younger brother, had told them this was not acceptable. “However, their parents embraced the idea and started preparations for the wedding,” he said.
The investigation officer said the women had returned home after Eid for the wedding.
He said on Saturday, their brother had had an argument with them on the subject and locked them in a room. He said a few hours later, he had shot them and fled.
The officer said their father had moved the complaint against Hussain.
He said the bodies had been sent to the morgue for autopsy. He said teams had been formed to find and arrest Hussain.
