Karim also demanded an end to load-shedding and rightsizing of the provincial cabinet. He said the political leaders refusing to repatriate assets held in foreign countries should be made ineligible for public representation.
Karim accused the government of deliberate ambiguity on the status of Raymond Davis, the American citizen detained by the police on the charge of shooting two Pakistanis in Lahore.
He said it was a shame that 10 days after the unfortunate incident the Foreign Office had yet to come up with a clear statement on whether or not the man was a diplomat and whether or not he enjoyed the immunity from prosecution claimed for him by the US government under the Vienna Convention. He warned that in ignoring the citizens’ sentiments the government risked alienating them.
