KARACHI: The process of admissions to 269 colleges in Sindh, of which 131 are in Karachi, will begin from July 27 and August 1, respectively, said a press statement of the education department.

The department announced the admission policy for all the government colleges of Sindh for the current year. According to the statement, admissions will be offered in 269 colleges in Sindh, of which 131 are in Karachi.

The admission process in Sindh will kick-off from July 12, whereas in Karachi, it will start from August 1 as the Karachi matric board will announce the results on July 31.

According to Sindh colleges director-general Dr Nasir Ansar, the results of the matric board are expected on July 31 and if, for any reason, the results are delayed, it will not affect the admission process as mark-sheets of the students are not needed. He explained that since the admission process will be carried out online, students will not need to attach their matric mark-sheet along with their admission forms. "We have the marks of the students in our database that could be traced with their roll numbers," he said.

For anomalies that usually occur in the online admission process, he assured that they have taken measures to minimise those. He said that they have asked 50 colleges in the city to facilitate students in filling their admission forms if they are not able to do it online.

Apart from that, he said there is no fee for the admission form. However, he mentioned that they will charge Rs20 for the claim form. "If a student thinks any injustice has happened in the admission process, he or she can fill up the claim form," he said.

Talking about the number of applicants, he said that they were expecting around 0.1 million admissions in Karachi and a little more than that in interior Sindh. The last date for the submission of forms will be August 15, which can extend for a day or two, informed Ansar.
