On the ground: Rasheed to tour low-lying areas from Tuesday

LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed on Sunday announced that he would start his tour of low-lying areas in various districts across the province from Tuesday.

Rasheed criticised the government for what he called poor preparations for floods. He was speaking at a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) delegations from including Sialkot, Layyah, Multan and Vehari.

“The Met Department has forecast heavy rains,” Rasheed said. “What safety measures has the government taken to avoid large-scale destruction?”

“The government appears to be just waiting for the floods,” he said. Rasheed also criticised the chief minister, saying, “Your rain boots don’t stop floods.”
