The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is committed to perform its national duty with absolute professionalism, transparently and on merit for corruption-free Pakistan.

This was said by NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Friday. He was chairing a meeting to review latest progress on bureau’s Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) System at its headquarters.

The M&E System advisor to the chairman informed that NAB’s new system focused on maintenance of data at each stage including complaint entry and verification, inquiry, investigation, prosecution. It also includes record preservation of regional board meetings and executive board meetings, including case briefs, decisions made and lists of participants attending the meetings, with time and date and ability to analyse data in qualitative and quantitative form, with warnings and alarm systems for violators.

He further elaborated that the pilot project of NAB Rawalpindi has commenced, and all M&E concerns will be addressed in consultation with all relevant wings of the bureau.

Chaudhry said the new system will enable the organisation to track implementation and outputs systematically, and measure effectiveness of programmes, which help determine exactly when a programme is on track and when changes may need to be made. He said the M&E system forms the basis for modification of interventions and assessing the quality of activities being conducted.

He informed the meeting that the system was essential for forming measurable impacts on expected outcomes as well as for effective implementation. The chairman said it will help to identify the most valuable and efficient use of resources and that it was critical for developing objective conclusions.

He further elaborated that it provides the necessary data to guide strategic planning and helps to improve performance and achieve results to improve current and future management of outputs, outcomes and impact.

He directed all regional bureaus of NAB to conduct complaint verification, inquiries and investigation as per laid down laws and standards of procedure.
