An Islamabad-based think tank has decided to collaborate with a parliamentary body to promote policy-oriented research, said a press release issued on Thursday.

The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) of the National Assembly signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard, the statement read.

The agreement, signed by YPF General-Secretary MNA Shaza Fatima Khawaja and SDPI Executive-Director Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri, aims at enhancing cooperation to engage youth for achieving objectives of peace, justice and social security.

Both parties agreed to promote and implement policies, programmes, laws and regulations based on sustainable development.

They would work for building-up national research capacity and infrastructure, the statement read.

The two forums would work together for evidence generation through research for advocacy and policy formulation on economic issues.

Sensitising youth about gender issues and inculcating in them respect for freedom of speech, equality, rule of law and tolerance is another major area of cooperation.
