SUKKUR: The meeting room of Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) turned into a fish market on Thursday afternoon, after organisation's chief asked a sub-divisional officer (SDO) to improve his performance.

Sepco chief executive officer (CEO) Mujahid Islam Billah had called a meeting of the organisation's engineers and SDOs to review their overall performance during the past year.

During the meeting, Billah asked Site SDO Israr Bachkani about his bad performance upon which Bachkani became angry and started to threaten the CEO. This sparked a heated debate among the officers and the CEO, after which the SDOs staged a protest. However, later some senior officers intervened and the matter was resolved.

"Bachkani lost his temper and even threatened to shoot me," Billah told The Express Tribune, adding that he had received reports about the SDO's corruption. "He [Bachkani] owns four bungalows in a housing society, I am going to refer his case to National Accountability Bureau," he added.

The SDO Bachkani was not available for comments as his phone was switched off.
