Craft show celebrating cultural diversity to kick off in Karachi

Event to be held on Sunday, July 17, aims to bring out all those interested in crafts on one platform

A show celebrating cultural diversity is set to kick off in Karachi.

Organised by the Crafter’s Guild, the Indie Art & Craft Show has one mantra, ‘Happiness is Handmade’. It aims to bring out all those interested in crafts on one platform in Karachi, in the form of post-Eid celebrations.

The show, which will be held on Sunday, July 17, at the Royal Rodale, will have various items on display, including, sugar craft by local bakers and dessert makers, and a range of artisan beauty products, i.e. herbal skin care, natural cosmetics.

Crafts will also include home décor items done in decoupage, stained glass, wood craft, as well as even traditional truck art.

This year, the organisers have collaborated with several renowned organisations, including, Commune Artist Colony, KITE and Co Pakistan to offer more to the participants in terms of mentoring, training and overall growth for their skills. Other partners include, Tryst Salon and Spa, Sheops, Artsy.pk, and Dasktari.Pk.

“There will be a mix of quirky gifts and lifestyle products, some done with resin, others completely recycled,” the statement said.

“The event will also show case traditional crafts from the rural side, with the help of NGOs such as Sabah Pakistan, Khazana Crafts as well as brands including, Zed Mars and Kashmina who work with artisans to develop contemporary designs and modern day products.

“Paintings and mixed media by fellow artists are the highlight of the event, featuring the likes of Muneeza Khan, Shafia Yasmeen, Seerat Jafri and Zahra Hussain to name a few,” the statement added.



Visitors will have the opportunity to shop from over 75 reasons as to why Happiness is Handmade, at the Indie Art & Craft Show.
