ISLAMABAD: The cultural programmes to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day at Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) continued for a second day.

For the past two decades, Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed on February 5 every year as a show of moral, diplomatic and political support to the people of Kashmir in their struggle for self determination.

Students from various educational institutions participated and competed in different cultural activities such as skits, tableaus, Kashmiri painting and musical performances.

Thirty students from the twin cities participated in the painting competition, using their artistic skills to capture the beauty of Kashmir and its people. “I have specially come to participate in the painting competition; it is a great platform for students to revive and highlight the Kashmir issue,” said a student from Roots School Rawalpindi.

Different stories related to the Kashmir issue were enacted by means of a puppet show. The participating students sang Kashmiri songs to emphasise the sacrifices of the “Kashmiri freedom fighters.”

“This is a golden opportunity for youngsters to show their hidden skills by taking part in different programmes,” said Sonia Anum, a participant.
