Ahsan Khan attempts to shut down critics following backlash over 'distasteful' meme

Amidst hilarious Eid memes based on Pakistani dramas such as Mann Mayal and the likes, Ahsan Khan shared a meme on Udaari which went viral. And not because it was funny.
Many found Ahsan's post distasteful and took to Twitter and criticised the actor who has otherwise gained praise for not just his performance in the drama but also raising awareness on child sexual abuse.
"A lot of memes have been made in the past but I ignored them as I didn't want to trivialise the issue and kill the message. I have been constantly making efforts to eliminate this evil through the platform of Udaari. And because of it, a lot of people are willing to share their stories with me. I am planning to make a documentary to further highlight this issue," Ahsan told The Express Tribune when asked to comment on the criticism he has been facing.
Udaari has been pivotal in bringing child abuse to light
"A lot of good actors were offered the role of Imtiaz but they rejected it. I couldn't digest the scenes and was also bashed by friends and family for portraying it on the screen, but I didn't back out."
While many of us failed to see the humour in Ahsan's post, he didn't find anything to be wrong with it. "As a person, I have my own definition of humor. People derive different meanings out of things and you can't please everyone."

Ahsan said that 95 percent of his fans/followers took the post lightly which was the real intent behind it. "For those who feel it was in bad taste, I wasn't trying to be offensive or hurt anyone's feeling. I am not that kind of a person who will offend someone with my personal choices or views."
The Ishq Khuda actor also said he shared the meme because that particular dialogue of his is popular. "I didn't have any negative intention while sharing that meme. For me, it was just a dialogue that people remembered. I wasn't trying to endorse, celebrate or glorify my character."
Ahsan added that he will continue his efforts to eliminate child abuse not just within Pakistan but internationally as well.
