In an interview, Shoaib discussed the importance of humor especially when it comes to sports. "Professional sport can be stressful so it's important to keep the atmosphere in the dressing room light," he said.

"I've had my share of fun in the dressing room. There was so much of banter and harmless leg-pulling that my jaws would ache. Among the Indian cricketers Ashish Nehra and Yuvraj Singh are a riot, as also Virender Sehwag," he told The Mumbai Mirror.
