LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami acting chief Liaqat Baloch said on Sunday peace and stability were returning to the country because of the Operation Zarb-i-Azb and the National Action Plan against terrorism.

Speaking to the youth from NA-126 at an iftar dinner, he said: “Failure of foreign and domestic policies of the incumbent rulers is threatening national security.” He said the drone attack in Balochistan [that targeted Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour] was an attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty.

Baloch said the National Security Policy had proved a failure.

The JI acting chief said enemies were trying their best to sabotage China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects. The government, he said, was in the battlefield without foreign and defence ministers. He accused India and Afghanistan of carrying out subversive activities in Pakistan with help from the US. He said the Difa-i-Pakistan Council would soon arrange defence conferences in Peshawar, Karachi, Quetta and Lahore.

Calling the youth the real asset of Pakistan, Baloch said the JI was proud of their capabilities. “The youth have earned worldwide recognition for their contributions as doctors, engineers and computer scientists. Corrupt political leaders have disappointed our youth,” he said.

Baloch said the youth would have to rid the country of the corrupt.
