SUKKUR: It is our national resolve to root out terrorism once and for all, said Benazir Income Support Programme chairperson Marvi Memon.

Talking to the media after offering condolences to the martyrs of Sindh police in Sukkur on Sunday, she said that peace and stability is the future of Pakistan.

Referring to the sacrifices given by soldiers and officers of the Pakistan Army and police in the war against terror, she said the martyrs have sacrificed their lives for a peaceful and prosperous Pakistan. Talking about the achievements of operation Zarb-e-Azb, she paid glowing tributes to the martyrs. According to her, the army has broken the backbone of the terrorists.

Memon further said that the soldiers of Pakistan Army, who laid their lives for the sacred national cause, were at the forefront in the success of this operation. She added that the jawans of the police and other security agencies who sacrificed their lives were also part of this success.

She stated that the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz-led government is committed to making Pakistan a peaceful land, where economic activities are promoted so that the youth could get better education and enhance their skills. "Therefore, we are making all-out efforts to provide them such an environment where they can demonstrate their skills effectively," she said.

According to Memon, BISP is dedicated to facilitating its beneficiaries to the maximum possible extent in a transparent manner. She claimed that BISP will soon introduce biometric-based payment system in the districts of Multan, Mianwali, Mirpurkhas and Sanghar.

This new payment system will benefit the beneficiaries who already have smart cards to draw their funds. She said that BISP beneficiaries have been informed in advance that the payments in the mentioned districts may be delayed by three weeks. However, she said, BISP is making sure that beneficiaries in these districts should begin benefiting from the new payment system by the middle of next month.

Earlier, she went to the house of slain policeman Gulsher Dreho in New Pind, Sukkur, to offer condolences to his family. Dreho was recently martyred during an exchange of fire with criminals near Gadani railway crossing in Sukkur.

Later, she went to Jahan Khan town of Shikarpur district, where a large number of BISP beneficiaries complained about the non-operational ATMs. She assured them that the matter will be taken up with the relevant banks and resolved shortly.
