KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to increase the security in the city by installing 7,000 surveillance cameras in different parts of Karachi.  A high-level meeting was held at Central Police Office (CPO) on Thursday, in which the security of the city was discussed. The meeting was presided over by Sindh IG AD Khawaja. It was decided to prepare a report within three days regarding the installation of 1,000 surveillance cameras of 10 megapixels at 200 sensitive locations of the metropolis. Khuwaja also issued orders to conduct a survey of the city after Eidul Fitr, regarding the installation of 7,000 surveillance cameras in Karachi, so that permission can be obtained from the provincial government. The decision to install more surveillance cameras came after the recent high profile kidnapping of Sindh High Court chief justice’s son in the city. Police of major cities across the world use images captured by the surveillance cameras to solve crimes.
