SUKKUR: Four children drowned in two separate incidents near Thull district, Jacobabad, on Sunday.

Two cousins — three-year-old Tariq Ali, son of Pir Bux Jakhrani, and four-year-old Asiya, daughter of Khair Bux Jakhrani — were playing with other children near the embankment of Tharri Shakh canal when both of them slipped and fell into the off-shoot of the canal.

The people nearby rushed to the scene and managed to find the bodies after efforts of two hours. The incident occurred at Muhammad Ramzan Jakhrani village, situated within the limits of RD-44 police station near Sindh-Balochistan border.

Separately, two cousins - four-year-old Saira, daughter of Ghulam Hussain, and five-year - old Yasmeen, daughter of Tufail Ahmed — were playing near the Rahujo Wah canal when Saira slipped and fell into the canal.

Yasmeen jumped into the water to rescue her cousin but she also drowned.

The bodies were then fished out by the villagers.
