National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has issued directives for implementing decisions in letter and spirit to further consolidate institutional gains at different levels.

While chairing a meeting to review the latest progress on NAB’s monitoring and evaluation system (MES) in Islamabad on Thursday, he said that the MES forms the basis for modification in interventions and assessing the quality of work being carried out at various levels.

An official told the meeting that the MES can maintain data from complaint entry, its verification, inquiry, investigation and prosecution.

Chaudhry said that the system helps measure the effectiveness of a programme and it could be used to demonstrate that a specific programme’s efforts have had a measurable impact on expected outcomes.

He said that it also helps in judicious utilisation of resources. It is critical for developing objective conclusions, he said.

“The MES provides the necessary data to guide strategic planning and helps improve performance and achieve results. It is an important management tool to track progress and facilitate in decision-making as well as established links between the past, present and future actions,” he said.
