LUDHIANA: After tickling the funny bone of many fans with Salman Khan in Andaz Apna Apna, Aamir Khan hopes to work with the Dabangg star again, possibly for a sequel to the 1994 film. Sharing that he is a fan of Salman’s, Aamir mentioned he considers his co-star the original bodybuilder of Bollywood.

“I would love to do Andaz Apna Apna 2 with Salman. If the script is good, then we will do it. I hope to work with Salman again, but the right script and film have to come up. I’m sure both of us would love to do it,” Aamir said at the shoot of Dangal.

Asked who else can reprise their role for the remake, Aamir said, “For that, you have to tell me the script.”

Having himself gone through unbelievable body transformation for his film, Aamir sang praises for Salman’s knack for bodybuilding. “If someone has been involved in the bodybuilding in our industry, it is Salman. I am a fan of his body and his fitness. I don’t think my body is as good as Salman’s. I try to come close to him. He is the original bodybuilder of the industry.”

Would love to do Andaz Apna Apna reboot with Salman, says Aamir

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal unravels the story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir) who fought against all the odds to train his daughters, Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, in professional wrestling. While Salman will also be seen as a wrestler in his upcoming film Sultan, Aamir said there is no similarity between the two films as their stories are completely different.

“I am really excited about Sultan because every film of Salman is entertaining to watch. We enjoy his films a lot. Despite wrestling being a common aspect in our films, the stories are very different,” Aamir noted. “I loved the teaser and promo of the film and also the song, which has been coincidentally shot in Punjab.”

Talking further about Dangal, Aamir said, “The film goes beyond wrestling. Wrestling is an important aspect of the film but the script penned by Nitesh himself goes beyond it.”

According to him, the film is socially relevant and entertaining at the same time. “We assume such stories to be very grim but you would be surprised to know that when I was listening to the script, I was laughing as much as I was crying.” Aamir compared Nitesh’s style to that of film-maker Rajkumar Hirani. “Raju Hirani too picks up serious topics but his way of telling the story is humorous. Nitesh has chosen to go with the same style with this film.”

Dangal, which is currently being shot at Akhada Leel near Toosa village in Indian Punjab, also features Sakshi Tanwar, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. The film is slated to release on December 23 this year.
