PBSA sends two young cueists to Thailand

Tahir, Saqib to train under professional coaches in Bangkok

KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) has sent two young cueists Haris Tahir and Mohammad Saqib for a three-week training programme in Bangkok, Thailand, where they will be trained by professional coaches to fine-tune their game.

The federation is now looking to invest in youngsters in a bid to instil longevity.

Senior cueist Mohammad Sajjad was already axed from the international tournaments’ squad of Pakistan, and now the PBSA is looking to sideline former IBSF world champion Mohammad Asif on the basis of unsatisfactory performances in his last few appearances.



Previously, the likes of Hamza Akbar, who is currently playing in the professional circuit, Hunain Amir, Mohammad Majid and Asjad Iqbal attended a similar programme, and the PBSA is hopeful that both Tahir and Saqib would benefit greatly from the experience.

“It will be a good learning curve for both since they will learn under the tutelage of professional coaches,” PBSA President Alamgir Sheikh told The Express Tribune. “The programme is taking place under the aegis of the Bangkok Snooker Federation, which has coaches from the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association working here.”



Sheikh further said that all expenses have will be borne by the PBSA except for accommodation, which will be provided by the hosts.

He also indicated that the PBSA is looking to hire a professional coach as well.
