The critically-acclaimed Agatha Christie novel of the same name was published in 1934. Poirot, a Belgian detective, is given the task of resolving a murder case in which the suspect has to be hunted down from a large number of train passengers. It was the possibility of the murderer hiding behind the many innocent faces on board that made the novel immensely popular.
In 2013, it was reported that Fox had started working on the project as a remake of the 1974 movie starring Albert Finney as the detective tasked with investigating the crime. The original cast also included Sean Connery, Anthony Perkins, Jacquline Bisset, Colin Blakely and Lauren Bacall. Nominated for six Academy Awards, the original Orient Express grossed over $35 million in the US.
