Speakers at a training session at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) said on Thursday research in social and biological sciences was vital for the country’s growth.

They were speaking at a five-day In-service Short Term Training for University Faculty at the LWCU. The Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalisation (DFDI) and the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) had arranged the training. It consisted of 10 sessions on andragogical skills, three sessions on micro teaching and four sessions on communication skills. The objective of the workshop was to equip faculty members with advanced teaching methodologies, sound communication skills and groom their personality.  The speakers said teaching methodologies had changed over the years. They called for using technology, including various multimedia tools, for training teachers. PHEC resource persons for the training included Nusra Inayat, Bashir Gondal and Moafia Nader. They conducted sessions on andragogigcal skills highlighting the importance of teaching techniques for adults.  Farhana Khurshid shared communication skill ideas with the faculty.
