Man accused of assaulting wife

DIJKOT:

A woman has accused her husband of torturing and forcing her out of their home. According to a complaint filed at the Women Police Station, Saima Bibi, a resident of Sargodha Road, married Ali Raza of Chak No. 73-JB seven months ago by choice and is pregnant. She alleged that her husband has repeatedly prevented her from meeting her family and assaulted her whenever she tried.

Saima claimed that on the previous day, Al beat her, causing a head injury and leaving marks from being struck with electric wires. She also accused him of defaming her.

Following her complaint, SHO Sana Nazir registered a case under sections 354 and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code and launched raids to apprehend the suspect.

Meanwhile, unidentified extortionists allegedly threatened to kill a doctor and his wife after demanding Rs5 million.

Dr Liaquat Ali Chattha lodged a complaint stating that he had received a phone call from an unidentified person who threatened to kill him before disconnecting the call. He blocked the number.

Two days later, the extortionists allegedly contacted his wife on her mobile phone and demanded Rs5 million, threatening to kill her as well if the amount was not paid. Following the complaint, the police registered a case under Section 384 of the PPC and Section 25-D of the Telegraph Act.
