Wrong call: Two kidnappers remanded into custody of AVCC

KARACHI: Two alleged kidnappers were remanded into the custody of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) till February 7.

The accused, Abbas Ali alias Salman and Ali Shifa, allegedly picked up two-and-a-half-year-old Aleena, daughter of Muhammad Akbar, from a slum in New Iqbalabad, Drigh Road, situated within the jurisdiction of the Shah Faisal police station on January 26, 2011.

The men found out when they contacted the father for ransom that he was too poor to pay any money.

According to investigators, the men suspected they might be arrested so they abandoned the girl somewhere and she was later found at an Edhi home in Mithadar and reunited with her family.

On Monday, the men, who were booked under Sections 365-A and 34 PPC, were produced before the Administrative Judge (AJ) Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, who ordered the accused into physical custody of the AVCC till February 7.
