PESHAWAR: Police have broken up the provincial capital into 58 zones for security during Ramazan. Of these, 53 zones are located in the main city, while five belong to the Cantonment area.

Three SP rank officers will lead four DSPs and 69 inspectors, sub-inspectors and ASIs. An additional force of 354 police constables has been deployed to patrol the city areas during different times of the day.

SP rank officers will patrol the city from 4am till 8am, while the circle DSP would be responsible for patrolling from 2pm till 8pm.

Security and relief: Preparations underway ahead of Ramazan

“These policemen will eat their sehri on the road and break their fast on the road too. For this purpose, we will provide them with food packets,” said SSP Operations Abbas Majeed Marwat while talking to The Express Tribune.

He said all large mosques will have between one and 10 policemen deployed for security depending on size. He added entry and exit points of these places of worship would be checked, while a separate security plan had been devised for them. “I will personally pay surprise visits to marketplaces and police stations to keep a check on the security situation and readiness of policemen,” he concluded.
