Neveen Syed, owner of Narcissus Events in Lahore, is well-reputed in meeting clients’ demands and adding her own special twist. From corporate events to weddings, parties and launches, she jots down a few events that have been most special to her

The Musical Notes

Creating new designs after understanding our clients’ requirements involves working on plans, sketching and - incidentally - destroying many designs in the process. Here the design incorporates a musical note, which is softened by the profusion of flowers - roses, gladioli, chrysanthemums and gypsophila. The bamboo spheres were adorned with delicate, fragrant jasmine to enhance the movement of the notes.

The Floral Arches

I get constant inspiration from my travels - like The Rose Garden at The Regent’s Park in London or The Keukenhof Gardens in Amsterdam. But instead of tulips, we filled up the arches with available local and imported flowers - roses, tuberoses, chrysanthemums and others. Sometimes we have to keep in mind budget restraints - tulips would have been stunning, but are too temperamental for our hot climate.

The Hot Pink and Sinfully Spicy Orange Mehndi

This event incorporated a fusion of Japanese lanterns and ethnic, colourful umbrellas! I just love mixing up the Raj colours in a different way. Marigolds and fragrant roses, delicately threaded in intricate patterns, adorned the umbrellas and imparted a festive air.

The Frozen Theme

For this party, twigs and Styrofoam shapes, trees and polyester fibres as well as an artificial ice machine, which intermittently threw flurries of snow, were used. Ice blocks to chill the air turned the venue into an icy cold event. It was challenging to get the effect required in the heat of the summer — but everyone loved the decor.

The Coca-Cola Corporate Event

Doing out-of-the-box designs always excites me. This floral installation is for a Coke event, courtesy the R Team. We put together almost 200 crates in different forms to create this stunning entrance walkway. Hundreds of empty Coke bottles and caps were also used in the creation.
