KARACHI: Police failed to trace the whereabouts of missing Karachi Development Authority’s (KDA) Head of Anti-Encroachment cell Jamil Baloch.

Baloch went missing while rerunning to home in Shah Faisal Colony from his office in Civic Centre on Friday. Later on, his car was later found near Aziz Bhatti Police Station.

According to police, KDA director went to a mosque near Aziz Bhatti police station as per routine to offer Esha prayers from where he went missing. His car was found parked outside the mosque while his belongings including his laptop were still in his car. Baloch was active against china cutting mafia and land grabbers in the city.

Family believes that he has been kidnapped. “All the circumstances suggest that he has been kidnapped,” said his nephew Naeem Ahmed.

After Balcoh did not return home, his family approached police and registered a case against unidentified persons.

“There has been no development in Baloch’s kidnapping case,” said Gulshan division SP Dr Fahad, adding that “We are trying to trace the location but his cell phone is also going switched off.”

SP Fahad said the police investigators have obtained the CCTV footage from two points but nothing was clear in the footage. So far, police have register a kidnapping case and further investigation has been initiated, while the kidnapping for ransom case would be register if family receives a ransom call by the abductors, he added.

A source privy to the police investigation claimed that the missing director was also called by the National Accountability Bureau and the Federal Investigation Agency regarding some issues of the land.
