CHARSADDA: A six-year-old boy died while two others were wounded when a wall collapsed at Government Boys Primary School in Muftiabad, Charsadda on Saturday.

A police official told The Express Tribune the incident occurred when a group of students were playing near a window in the wall.

“Muhammad Umer, a student at the school, died on the spot,” he added.

According to the official, locals had repeatedly complained that the wall was damaged and was in desperate need of repair.

“The wall had been repaired a few days ago,” he said. “However, substandard material had been used and the wall was not sturdy.”

Speaking to The Express Tribune, Charsadda DEO Sharif Gul suspended the school administration and ordered an enquiry into the incident.

“The school’s guard was also suspended in connection with the incident,” he added.

The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Charsadda.

On March 18, 2016, a three-year-old girl died while three others were injuries when the roof of their house collapsed.

According to the police, the roof caved in when Hina, her mother and two brothers were asleep inside the room.

Separately, a labourer died when the roof of a building collapse in Charsadda on Saturday. As per a police official, Ikram was working in a building that was under construction when the incident occurred. His body was pulled out from the debris.
